What is Halobol/Fluoxymesterone?

Fluoxymesterone is a synthetic androgen and anabolic steroid (AAS) primarily used to treat low testosterone levels in men, delayed puberty in boys, and certain types of advanced breast cancer in women.

Medical Uses & Mechanism
  • Hypogonadism: Replaces natural testosterone in men with deficient hormone production.
  • Delayed Puberty: Stimulates growth and physical development in adolescent males.
  • Breast Cancer: Counteracts estrogen effects in inoperable, metastatic breast cancer in females.
  • Mechanism: Binds to androgen receptors to promote protein synthesis and nitrogen retention
  •  Risks & Side Effects
  • Hepatotoxicity: Can cause severe liver stress, dysfunction, or jaundice
  • Virilization: Causes deepening voice, facial hair growth, and acne in women
  • Cardiovascular Strain: Increases blood pressure and alters cholesterol panels.
  • Controlled Status: Classified as a Schedule III controlled substance due to high potential for abuse and athletic bans
  • Indications for Use

    • Adult Male Hypogonadism (testosterone deficiency):
Utilized as a replacement therapy for testosterone deficiency. Therapy is managed and adjusted based on patient clinical response.
    • Palliative Treatment of Inoperable Breast Cancer in postmenopausal women:
Employed as part of palliative care for advancing inoperable metastatic mammary cancer, typically continued for extended periods under medical supervision
    • Male Delayed Puberty:
Administered for a limited duration while being monitored closely via skeletal age and bone maturation.
